El Rincon de Juan Carlos: Michelin Guide Restaurant in Tenerife

The first time I visit Tenerife I thought it was a small island, but I was so mistaken. This island has everything, different climates, diverse nature, several sports to practice, indoors and outdoors, shopping and mostly important, a lot of restaurants and cuisines to choose from. I have been enjoying every minute of my new life in Tenerife and the Restaurant El Rincon de Juan Carlos is part of a luxury experience that I would recommend, when you want to taste the best of Canary Islands cuisine whilst having the best view over the ocean. Find out more about this Michelin Guide restaurant with an exquisite A La Carte menu.

Rome – La Dolce Vita

La vita è più bella a Roma, meaning life is more beautiful in Rome, I would say after my birthday trip to Rome. Check the pictures I took from the city and food. It was a holiday of 5 days that made me feel as if I was in the movie La Dolce Vita. If you are planning a summer holiday in Rome, get some inspiration from the photos I have taken from the main attractions and restaurants. Places like Trevi Fountain, Saint Peter’s Square, Via del Corso or the Colosseum are some of the must visit places where I have been.

My boyfriend’s hometown: Iasi, Romania

Travelling becomes even more special when there is emotions involved and when you are visiting your boyfriend’s hometown, naturally you get curious to know more about it. It’s always tricky when it gets the time, if you are in an intercultural relationship, to travel to your lover’s hometown, because you might or not like it. Last December I went to his city for the first time, Iasi in the northeast of Romania. Honestly, my first impression wasn’t really positive, because it rained continuously for two weeks. Everyone there said I was unlucky and this is an extraordinary event, since it …

Friendly Friday Blog Challenge: Something Fishy – Codfish with Cream / Bacalhau com Natas

The Friendly Friday Challenge is now a fortnightly challenge co-hosted by Amanda from Something to Ponder About and Sandy from The Sandy Chronicles. For the next two weeks, the Friendly Friday Blog Challenge is asking us to share a story, photographs, poem or recipe on the theme: Something Fishy. I could not be part of this challenge and not write again about the most traditional fish in Portugal: Codfish. Codfish has been part of Portuguese history since 15th century, connected to the Age of Discovery. Codfish was the perfect fish that could last a long seafaring. On the 18th and 19th century the consumption of cod …

Easter in Bucharest

Spending Easter in Bucharest was a totally unplanned event, but I’m so glad it happened like this, because when you don’t have expectations, it’s when you enjoy the most. My boyfriend and I had to go to Tenerife for work reasons and meanwhile we were there, he realised, he needed to come to his home country, which is Romania, to sort out some documents. When he said we would stop for one day in Bucharest, before heading to his home town, I was super happy. I was really curious to see a little bit of Bucharest and understand why Romanian …

Portuguese Easter

Since I can’t be in Portugal for a traditional Portuguese Easter, I decided to bring some of the tradition to me. On a Portuguese table, codfish is a must, it represents abundance, it has a festive symbol and is part of Portuguese culture, along with the Portuguese custard tarts and the traditional music called Fado. Thus, I chose a codfish recipe that you could definitely have it, if you would go to Portugal, it’s called: Bacalhau a Gomes de Sa. It doesn’t have a translation, besides bacalhau, which means codfish, but Gomes de Sa, it’s a person’s name, hence it …

International recipes worth trying

Since lockdown started, I have been trying to fill my time with different hobbies and one of my favourites is trying recipes with my boyfriend. Treating the kitchen as a science lab when you want to be creative, it sets your spirit free and suddenly boredom is gone. To make it more challenging, my boyfriend and I decided to try different international recipes, that before we would only dare to try it in a restaurant, not cooking it, but at the end has been a funny and tasty adventure. In case, you want to explore your cooking talents and expand …

2020 Travelling – even after covid restrictions

My 2020 started full of dreams and hopes. A lot of planning was put into where to travel, what different cultures I would like to get to know better, what kind of local food I would be keen on trying. All the effort, to realise it was a waist of time, covid-19 was here to stay. My travelling plans changed of course, but I still managed to travel to some beautiful destinations in Europe, after covid-19 happened. Besides wanting to share with you those moments through pictures, let me show you first my intercontinental trip to Florida in January, before …
