There are plenty of anti-aging products in the market, but what makeup products are needed to make your skin look young, glowy and fresh? A full face of makeup when you are over 35 years old, can be something easy if you use the right products. Skin should look hydrated, lips with just some gloss and eyes enhanced with a good mascara. Keep reading to get to know the thirteen products I consider essential for an anti-aging makeup.
Maintaining a fresh face when the first signs of aging starting to appear, can be daunting, considering the infinite number of beauty and makeup products in the market. To keep a youthful skin, skincare is vital, and you should always do the four step routine: cleansing, serum, moisturiser and SPF at daytime. But what about makeup? What products are important to keep your skin radiant and plumped, yet keeping everything simple?
Age is just a number and thankfully we have makeup to stop us from aging.
The right makeup products will highlight your best facial features and the natural glow of your skin. Being 39, has taught me that creamy textures are key for an anti-aging makeup. Transform the dull mature face into a luminous one, when you are using the 13 products I’m about to show you.
One trick to make your foundation last longer is using a primer, instead of powders that can highlight wrinkles.
One of my favourite primers is the one from Jane Iredale which is suitable for oily mature skin.
If you have oily skin like me, you can apply this primer directly on your face without applying any skincare. You don’t have to be concerned about SPF, because foundations nowadays have SPF.
This primer can be applied without skincare, because the formula is designed to hydrate oily skin and balance skin oil production.
I like to apply it after I wash my face, wait at least 15 minutes whilst I’m applying body lotion and getting dressed, and after my face is ready for foundation. This primer from Jane Irelade feels super light and comfortable on the skin.
If you have dry to normal skin, you can keep applying your skincare and after being absorbed, apply an illuminating primer, also from Jane Iredale. The brand has two primers for oily and dry skin type.
To even out skin tone and add a natural glow to the face, a light foundation is the most important step in an anti-aging makeup routine. I don’t like heavy foundations when I want a luminous face, although for special events I have to, because of my oily t-zone.
For everyday I love light foundations. They can be applied quickly by hand, which helps to save time. Light foundations let your skin breathe and when you’re over 35, that’s very important. The more you clog your pores, the more dull your face becomes.
From the light foundations I tried so far, Fenty Beauty Eaze Drop is my favourite, despite the fact that I recently bought Estee Lauder Double Wear Sheer Matte instead of Fenty. I thought Estee Lauder would be better, but I was wrong. I wrote a review last week about it and as I said in the article, it makes my skin really oily, but since I bought it, I decided to use it when I go out for just a few hours and I want my skin to look radiant. I wish it stayed radiant the whole day like the moment I apply it, but after 4 hours, the radiance becomes oily. Anyway, if you have to look for a light foundation, my choice would be Fenty Beauty Eaze Drop.

3. HYDRATING CONCEALER
The third makeup step plays an essential role when it comes to revive under eyes.
Concealers have the power to reduce age, eliminate sleepless nights and brighten the eye area. I always like to invest in a good concealer and my suggestion goes for Dior Forever Skin Correct Concealer. The creamy, hydrating and buildable formula covers perfectly dark circles.
To avoid the concealer to crease, apply a thin layer (less is more) in the inner corners of the under eyes and dab it with a sponge until is completely blended. See it how in the video at the end of the article.

4. CREAMY HIGHLIGHTER
To intensify a natural radiance when the light hits your face, nothing better than opt for a creamy highlighter. Creamy textures have the advantage of melting into the skin as if they would be part of it and enable a quick application with fingers.
The highlighter stick Chanel Baume Essentiel Sculpting is a great option to add a flawless dewy finish to the skin without marking expression lines.
As picture above shows, this highlighter looks like a mixture between a moisturiser and a lip gloss, but with a light feeling where skin becomes hydrated and glowy instantly.
Bronzers shape and create a lifting illusion. Putting makeup on without bronzer is like washing your hair with just shampoo, something is left missing. Contouring your face with a creamy bronzer, is a simple way to get a healthy tanned glow, that straight away makes your face look younger.
Fenty Cheeks Out has been my favourite creamy bronzer since last year. The silky consistency adds to the skin a natural warmness, as upper picture shows.
A trick that I like doing with this bronzer, when I’m rushing and don’t have time to do a full face of makeup, is mix it with my moisturiser to give a healthy tone to my face, especially in winter
A creamy blush can be an alternative to a bronzer. If you like to keep your makeup routine simple, you can just use one of the two.
I have been loving the Chanel Les Beiges Blush. This stick blush works perfectly together with Fenty Cheeks Out and Chanel Baume Essentiel Sculpting. Check on the video by the end of the article, how well they work together.
Chanel Les Beiges Blush is an amazing creamy blush for everyday, easy to blend and with a luminous texture.
After having your face hydrated and prepared to glow, it’s time to make your eyes pop! In my everyday makeup, I only use two products for my eye makeup: eyeliner and mascara. Less is more in my opinion when time is running low.
Eyeliner can be a simple step in your makeup. I always use to say to my clients, when I worked at the makeup counter, that you need to try every sort of eyeliner, liquid, pencil or pen, until you understand which one your hand gets adapted to.
In my case, if I have time, I always prefer a liquid liner, but if not, than a pencil liner works best, like the one from Huda Beauty Life Liner 2-in-1 Eyeliner. I love this eyeliner for having both options and in that way, gives you the chance to draw your eyeliner depending of the occasion. In the video at the end of the article, you can see how to do it easily.

Mascara is decisively the step you cannot skip when you want to attain a youthful look. If you have eyelash extensions, mascara is surely unnecessary. But if you need one to volumize your lashes, then my suggestion goes for ABH Lash Brag Volumizing Mascara.
ABH Lash Brag Volumizing Mascara is my favourite mascara at the moment. Now that I’m close to forties, I noticed, I don’t have long lashes like when I was twenty, so finding a mascara that works in the few short lashes I have, becomes straight away my favourite makeup item, as ABH Lash Brag Volumizing Mascara.
I consider ABH Lash Brag Volumizing Mascara better than Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. With just one application, my lashes get longer, visible and sexy.
If every time you have mascara on, it gets smudged by the end of the day, I have the perfect solution for you: Huda Beauty Legit Lashes Waterproof Topcoat.
Huda Beauty Legit Lashes Waterproof Topcoat is a transparent topcoat mascara that transforms any mascara into a waterproof version, with the benefit of being easy to remove, comparing with the traditional waterproof mascara.
9. LIP LINER
Lips are the second area on the face, after eyes, where aging is visible. To fight this, lip liner has an important role to make your lips look fuller. A nude lip liner will make your lips seem naturally full.
One lip liner I have been addicted to is the Kylie Cosmetics Lip Liner from Matte Lip Kit Angel. I like the tip of this lip pencil, it’s soft, yet precise. If you’re not so good contouring your lips with a lip liner, Kylie Cosmetics Lip Liner will make it much easier. Check its swatch down bellow in the lip gloss section.
Lip gloss is everything when you want to volumize your lips.
If you don’t like the sticky texture of lip glosses, you can apply a nude liquid matte lipstick and then apply a very thin layer of gloss only at the cupid’s bow. This is a trick that will immediately make your lips look fuller.
The best gloss in the market for me at the moment is Dior Addict Lip Maximizer Plumping Gloss. The mint effect, creates a plumping effect that quickly contributes for a youthful makeup look.
I love the shade 012 Rosewood (picture above) and together with Kylie Cosmectics Lip Liner, they make the perfect duo to maximize your lips.
11. EYEBROW PENCIL
Eyebrows are the frame of the face. An eyebrow pencil, is essential if your eyebrows are thin.
To draw thin strokes that look as part of your natural brows, Benefit Precisely, My Brow Pencil does the job amazingly.

In my opinion, for a simple and easy anti-aging makeup, a makeup sponge is crucial to help setting foundation and concealer without using setting powder. Surely, you can apply foundation and concealer with your hands or a brush, but for concealer, I find a sponge, better than hands or brushes.
When concealer gets applied with a sponge, it stays and lasts longer. You just need to apply concealer in the inner corner of your under eyes and dab it towards the outer area. If the concealer gets applied close to the under lash, it will tend to crease, so avoid it completely.
More than brushes, a sponge is the makeup tool that should be always in your makeup bag.
13. EYE SMUDGE MAKEUP BRUSH
The only brush I would recommend for an anti-aging makeup would be an eye smudge makeup brush. The reason I’d only use this brush for a full face of makeup, considering all the products I advise so far, they can be applied with your fingers, is because you can rub the eyeliner pencil on the brush and apply it in one second. Besides eyeliner pencil, you can tap the brush in any eyeshadow and apply it close to your lash line. See how I do it in the video below.
ANTI-AGING QUICK MAKEUP VIDEO
If you follow all the steps I recommended above, the makeup application should take maximum 10 minutes. If you don’t have 10 minutes, then opt for just concealer, blush, mascara, brows and gloss. By using creamy textures your face will naturally look more fresh and dewy.
If you need to apply a setting powder, but want to avoid a cakey effect, choose a bronzer powder that will set the makeup and at the same time will give a healthy tone to your skin. The bronzer powder from Guerlain works well for that.
Wishing everyone a good week.

I love the Dior concealer and the Guerlain Terracotta bronzer! Great article!
Thank you beauties!
Great selection of products! This is really the way to go with makeup as we age. I used to be a huge fan of matte, powder formulas when I was younger, but they don´’t work for me anymore. I really want to try the Chanel Les Beiges Blush, it looks beautiful!
Only for special occasions I use powder based makeup, but for everyday my skin looks more healthy with creamy textures.
