Recently I was given a Biotherm Repair Gift Set and I realise I never tried skincare from Biotherm. I remember reading good reviews on magazines about being a very hydrating and rejuvenating skincare brand based on mineral thermal spring water from the Pyrenees, rich in thermal plankton. As a beauty blogger, I had to write about it, obviously. Did it correspond to my expectations? Continue reading to discover more.

If there is something that I’m really passionate about, is trying skincare and makeup. There is a “trillion” products in the beauty market, but normally we just get to try a few. That was the case of Biotherm. I know it’s a really popular and famous skincare brand, but surprisingly I never tried their products. I got really excited when it was gifted to me last Christmas the Biotherm Repair Gift Set.

Biotherm Repair Gift Set

The set includes 4 products:

  • Biosource Softening Foaming Cleanser;
  • Life Plankton Elixir Fundamental Regenerating Serum;
  • Life Plankton Fundamental Regenerating Eye Treatment;
  • Cera Repair Repairing Barrier Cream.

I started using the set in January and now I’m ready to review it. This set has helped me to understand the benefits of Biotherm and why is so renowned.

Biotherm Biosource Softening Foaming Cleanser

Biosource Softening Foaming Cleanser is perfect for dry and dehydrated skin. The main ingredients: life plankton, an essential element of Biotherm skincare which is based on pure thermal plankton extract, shea butter and essential minerals, nourish, balance and revive dry skin.

Unfortunately this foaming cleanser doesn’t suit oily skin type and since my skin is oily I can’t really state that it isn’t a good foaming cleanser. What I can say is that it doesn’t remove makeup as it’s advertised, being in my opinion, the only disadvantage. The texture and gentle fragrance of thermal plankton for me are the main pros of Biosource Foaming. I would reckon that if I had dry skin, I would have loved this product, for the reason that it feels very creamy and moisturizing.

Biotherm Life Plankton Elixir Fundamental Regenerating Serum

Biotherm Life Plankton Elixir is a concentrated anti-aging serum that promises to target intensively wrinkles, fine lines, loss of elasticity and to boost radiance, by creating a defence barrier on skin to strengthen it. The biofermented hyaluronic acid combined with the probiotic life plankton and vitamin C, stimulate skin’s resilience and luminosity to keep skin youthful and hydrated.

This serum has a tightening effect that after 3 days of use, I could see my skin with less lines, my pores were reduced and my face had more elasticity. This is an effective anti-aging serum that does its work. I only used this serum at night, because it feels a bit sticky and I didn’t want my skin to feel sticky during the day, specially if you want to apply makeup after.

Altogether, I would say this serum is powerful as Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair.

Biotherm Life Plankton Fundamental Regenating Eye Treatment

Life Plankton Eye Cream transforms the eye area into a less tired, more fresh and bright appearance. The key ingredient of Biotherm, life plankton, protects skin to be resistant against external aggressions such as pollution and replenishes hydration. The result is an under-eye area healed and regenerated, with visibly less wrinkles, crows feet and dark circles.

For me eye creams are very important and I instantly know if the consistency will help my eyes recover from tiredness and lack of density, particularly now that I getting close to my forties. Biotherm Life Plankton Eye Cream has the right consistency to fight aging on the delicate eye area, which is the first area of the face that shows aging signs. My dark circles were reduced too, besides my expression lines.

Biotherm Cera Repair Barrier Cream

Biotherm Cera Repair Barrier Cream is rich in ceramides to keep skin plumped and firmer. Whilst aging, we loose our natural ceramides, therefore Cera Cream is a smart anti-aging cream that takes away dullness and substitutes it by a healthier-looking skin, becoming more resistant to urban aggressions.

This cream is a treasure for any woman that is looking for an instant skin revival. I have been using this cream at night and my skin looks incredibly smooth and glowy when I wakeup. I wouldn’t use daytime though, because again my skin is oily and during daytime I prefer moisturisers that will have under control my oily t-zone. However, at night, rich creams suitable for sensitive skin, are my favourites to help my skin recover from loss of hydration during the day. The texture doesn’t feel greasy, feels very light and it’s easy to apply.

I now understand why Biotherm is popular. The skincare I tried in this gift set it is really worth it and it feels luxurious and high quality.

My favourite product is Cera Repair Barrier Cream, and allied with Life Plankton Elixir Serum, it has an anti-oxidant action on skin, creating a more even looking skin with increased elasticity.

Thank you for reading my blog. Have a great weekend,
