Olaplex has been expanding its range of repairing and nourishing haircare through out this year. Olaplex 8 – Bond Intense Moisture Mask, was launched on April and some months after I decided to give it a try, together with the shampoo, Olaplex No 4. Are they good as much as the popular Olaplex No 3? Read my review to know the answer.
I am a big fan of the famous Olaplex No 3 – Hair Perfector which has been part of my haircare routine for a long time, especially since I started dying my hair blonde. When the mask was added to the “family”, I knew I had to try it. Due to regular straightening, my hair needs lots of hydration, so I try always to replenish moisture through a good hair mask. If I was about to try the mask, obviously I had to complete it with the shampoo.
OLAPLEX 4 – BOND MAINTENANCE SHAMPOO

The thick texture of Olaplex 4 is already a sign that this is a shampoo designed for damaged hair that is thirsty for nourishment. Comparing to other shampoos, Olaplex 4 is so thick that it can be misled as a hair conditioner. Because, of its rich texture, a little bit goes a long way, meaning you just need a small amount each time you wash your hair. The whole bottle lasted me for 5 months, which is a really good value for money. The shampoo costs £26 and for a super high quality product that lasts, I think it’s a justified price. I wish Olaplex 3 had a good price too, since for me after 2 months is over and it’s the same price of the shampoo, it doesn’t make sense. However, Olaplex 3 is now available in a big bottle of 250ml, finally!
Back to the shampoo, there is only good things to say about it. It removes all dirtiness, pollution and impurities whilst moisturising and repairing damaged hair. I love everything about it, the texture, the smell, the way the hair feels softer afterwards.
I would say, in my opinion, Olaplex 4 is one of the best shampoos in the market worldwide, I have tried many and very few left my hair feeling so silky.
OLAPLEX 8 – BOND INTENSE MOISTURE MASK

Olaplex hair mask is not as thick or rich as I would expect. I like the bottle pump dispenser, it makes it easy to apply. Although, more important than the aesthetics of the packaging , is how your hair feels after. For my dry, natural curly hair, I don’t think this mask is nourishing enough, which is disappointing, considering the shampoo is so good. My hairdresser though, loves this mask and says it’s the best to use after colouring hair. Me personally, I think there’s better in the market, like for example Redken conditioners. I even left the mask on for 30 minutes, to see if it would moisture my hair more, but I don’t think so. I think this mask is good for natural straight hair, not for curly though.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I’m happy that I have tried Olaplex 4, however Olaplex 8 didn’t impress me.
Olaplex launched now a new shampoo for blonde hair that I can’t wait to try, Olaplex 4P, Blonde Enhancer Toning Shampoo. Their strategy of expansion is unstoppable this year!

If you like haircare reviews, come back to my blog on Wednesday. I’ll be reviewing more 2 hair products, one from OGX and the other from Redken.
Thank you for reading and supporting the blog community!
Wishing a joyful week,

I’ll be honest, I only tried Olaplex in the salon. And I didn’t noticed a big difference. Every time I go to Sephora I think about buying the line to try at home but I find all those numbers very complicated….do I need to use from number 1 to number 8? Can I use just number 5 and 8? It’s a headache ahahah
Ahahahahh I totally understand you, you’re right. It gets complicated. Although number 3 and 4 are worth it 😁 thank you for reading ❤
[…] Olaplex 4 and 8: Shampoo and Mask Review […]
Hi Michelle! Thank you so much for this review!
I agree with you Olaplex Nº 4 is one of the best shampoos in the market. I’ve used many shampoos over the years to treat my very dry, damaged and frizz-prone hair and none works best for me than Olaplex Nº 4.
I didn’t know Olaplex Nº 3 comes now in a 250ml bottle, thanks for the tip!!
I also agree with you Olaplex Nº 8 is not very nourishing, but the reason I love this mask so much is because it leaves my wet hair absolutely tangle free plus it’s the only hair mask that not only doesn’t weight my hair down but also adds some natural body to my thin hair.
Now I understand why you like olaplex 8 😀 what’s your most favourite olaplex product?
I love them all, but my favorite is OLAPLEX Nº 3. I think it´s the most transformative.
I agree 👍 💯
Sorry, I misspelled you name…
Ah don’t worry 😁🥰😘
