Anti-Age Skincare for Acne Skin

Anti-age skincare is most likely to has a rich consistency to target dry skin due to lack of elasticity and lost of natural collagen. It can be quite difficult to find anti-age skincare for acne skin, something light that won’t cause acne skin to become more oily and reactive, but it will still repair wrinkles and prevent future lines. I was advised by a pharmacist if I wanted to target fine lines and mild acne, I should then try the range Age-Purify from Filorga, La Roche Posay Anti-Imperfections SPF and Bioderma Atoderm SOS spray. I have used them all for two months. Are they worth it or not?

I always had a reactive skin tending to oily and suffering from some pimples once in a while, but I have learned to keep it under control, until my health had a minor setback that cause some mild acne comeback. I noticed that the anti-age skincare that I was applying on my skin wasn’t really helping. I then decided to go to a pharmacy and ask for help. My request was a skincare routine that would treat acne, but also aging signs. I definitely wanted to avoid acne skincare that dries out the skin too much to a point where some fine lines could appear on my face, considering that I’m getting closer to my forties. The pharmacist recommended me Filorga Age-Purify, SPF from La Roche Posay and when I would have a redness skin crisis combined with some itchiness, which I was having quite a lot, I could spray my face with Bioderma SOS. Let me review each product into more detail to let you know if this skincare routine was effective or not.

FILORGA AGE-PURIFY

Filorga Age-Purify can be bought at Feelunique

Filorga Age-Purify is based in an advanced dermatological research where two revolutionary ingredients help skin to be balanced and hydrated. One of the ingredients is hyaluro-youth cx which combines hyaluronic acid and smoothing peptide to smooth wrinkles. The other dermo-rescue cx includes 5 micro-peeling acids, niacinamide and zinc that purify skin, reducing pores, redness, shine, spots and blackheads.

FILORGA Age-Purify Clean Smoothing Purifying Cleansing Gel 150ml – This light cleansing gel it really does its job. Cleanses deeply your skin in a way that your skin is left soft and fresh. I truly love it. Comparing this gel to the one from Avene, I would definitely say that the texture of Filorga gel is much more delicate and soothing for the skin. I use it day and night.

FILORGA Age-Purify Double Correction Mask [Wrinkles + Blemishes] 75ml – I absolutely recommend this face mask to get rid of redness, spots and excess of oil. It truly does wonders. It will take care of your imperfections at the same time that hydrates your skin. I used it twice a week for 10 minutes.

FILORGA Age-Purify Intensive Double Correction Serum [Wrinkles + Blemishes] 30ml – This serum left me divided, because it says to use it day and night, but at daytime it only works if you apply just an SPF on top. If you apply foundation after putting this serum and an SPF, it seems that the skin is peeling off. My best advice is to use this serum only at night, as I did once I realised that in daytime doesn’t work for me. At daytime I’m using now the Ole Henriksen Truth Serum which I’ll be talking more about next week in another article focused in skincare. Filorga Age-Purify serum is perfect for night time and can be followed by a light water based moisturiser. Another disadvantage I have to mention about this product is the price. £62 for a serum texture where you have to be careful to what you will be applying afterwards, if not it can be rubbed off from your skin, it doesn’t justify the price. I would have liked it more if at daytime, I could apply my usual foundation afterwards. A detail that also left me confused is the tightening effect that it gives to the skin. It does control excess of oil, no doubt, however the tightening effect it can be harsh to a point that you are forced to apply a moisturiser straight after to stop the excessive tightening effect.

LA ROCHE POSAY ANTHELIOS ANTI-IMPERFECTIONS AND ANTI-SHINE

La Roche Posay Anthelios range is commonly recommended by dermatologists

La Roche Posay Anthelios product line consists in different sunscreens for face and body adapted to specific skin concerns with 30 or 50+ sun factor that are specifically designed for sensitive and acne prone skin.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios Invisible Anti-Shine Mist – This is a clever product in my opinion, because is easy to apply and it can be carried easily in your bag. Imagine you are rushing in the morning and you don’t have time to apply the sunscreen, you can then sort out this situation quickly by spraying your face with this amazing product. It can be sprayed throughout the day as well, to keep the skin protected all day. Even though it’s said is invisible, I advise you to spray just a little bit, if you really want to be invisible. If sprayed too much, you will have to spread the product evenly to remove the usual white stains that spf’s leave on the skin. It does have a matte effect, but I think Anthelios Anti-Imperfections is better with a more long-lasting matte effect.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios Anti-Imperfection Spf50+ – My skin really liked this sunscreen. It felt hydrating, whilst it controlled excess of oil. It didn’t leave my skin white: huge achievement for an spf 50+ and the salicylic acid that contains it really kept my breakouts and redness under control. This spf it worked well together with the Filorga Age-Purify serum. If you used Anthelios Anti-Imperfections before and you wasn’t satisfied, I would then recommend you the ISDIN Fotoultra Spot Prevent Spf 50+ on sale on Amazon.co.uk.

BIODERMA ATODERM SOS SPRAY

A quick way to get relieved when itchiness bothers you is using the Bioderma Atoderm SOS Spray

Bioderma Atoderm range is formulated for dry and sensitive skin that suffers from itchiness, eczema and dry patches. Although is not ideal for acne prone skin, the SOS spray effectively relieves itchiness and redness discomfort.

BIODERMA Atoderm SOS spray anti-itching spray – This was my saviour when two months ago I had a mild face breakout along with some really red itchy patches. Until the pharmacist recommended me this spray, I was scratching non-stop my face, because it was extremely itchy. With this spray, the redness disappeared together with the itching sensation instantly.

BEFORE AND AFTER

Before the skincare routine that was advised by the pharmacist, you can tell that my skin looks oily, uneven, it has visible pores and small pimples.

After using the products reviewed above, my face is more even, my smile line is smoothed, less visible pores and no small pimples. The only thing that still persists is some redness.
