My boyfriend’s hometown: Iasi, Romania

Travelling becomes even more special when there is emotions involved and when you are visiting your boyfriend’s hometown, naturally you get curious to know more about it. It’s always tricky when it gets the time, if you are in an intercultural relationship, to travel to your lover’s hometown, because you might or not like it. Last December I went to his city for the first time, Iasi in the northeast of Romania. Honestly, my first impression wasn’t really positive, because it rained continuously for two weeks. Everyone there said I was unlucky and this is an extraordinary event, since it …

Friendly Friday Blog Challenge: Something Fishy – Codfish with Cream / Bacalhau com Natas

The Friendly Friday Challenge is now a fortnightly challenge co-hosted by Amanda from Something to Ponder About and Sandy from The Sandy Chronicles. For the next two weeks, the Friendly Friday Blog Challenge is asking us to share a story, photographs, poem or recipe on the theme: Something Fishy. I could not be part of this challenge and not write again about the most traditional fish in Portugal: Codfish. Codfish has been part of Portuguese history since 15th century, connected to the Age of Discovery. Codfish was the perfect fish that could last a long seafaring. On the 18th and 19th century the consumption of cod …

Haircare Routine

A week ago, was all about my skincare, this week it’s about my hair. You can have the most beautiful skin in the world, but if your hair looks rough, it seems that something is missing. Hair and skin go hand in hand. A bad hair day, we all have it once in a while, of course, but we all desire a bouncy hair that turn heads. Let’s dig into the products that over the last years have been helping my hair to look healthier, silky and soft. Before washing my hair, I like to use Olaplex to protect my …

My Amazon Favourites

Buying beauty items is no longer restricted to beauty stores, shopping malls or beauty specialized websites, now the big names of e-commerce like Amazon, Ebay, Shopify, Alibaba, are part of the competition as well for beauty products. My favourite e-commerce website for beauty is definitely Amazon. It’s reliable, quick and the reviews play an important role on the purchase process. From the many items I bought so far, I wanted to focus on some I consider a must-have, three of them are related to beauty and the fourth it can’t be categorized as beauty, but it does give some glamour …

Skincare routine

It’s been a long time I haven’t written about beauty in my blog and couldn’t stop thinking what I felt like writing. I used to be a big makeup junkie, more than skincare, but lockdown has changed me and now, I have more pleasure having my face free of makeup. To have a beautiful skin without any makeup, skincare becomes vital, hence I chose my skincare routine as a comeback in the blog’s beauty section. Note, as much as skincare is important to keep your skin young, remember your diet and regular exercise play a big role too. A radiant …

Easter in Bucharest

Spending Easter in Bucharest was a totally unplanned event, but I’m so glad it happened like this, because when you don’t have expectations, it’s when you enjoy the most. My boyfriend and I had to go to Tenerife for work reasons and meanwhile we were there, he realised, he needed to come to his home country, which is Romania, to sort out some documents. When he said we would stop for one day in Bucharest, before heading to his home town, I was super happy. I was really curious to see a little bit of Bucharest and understand why Romanian …

Portuguese Easter

Since I can’t be in Portugal for a traditional Portuguese Easter, I decided to bring some of the tradition to me. On a Portuguese table, codfish is a must, it represents abundance, it has a festive symbol and is part of Portuguese culture, along with the Portuguese custard tarts and the traditional music called Fado. Thus, I chose a codfish recipe that you could definitely have it, if you would go to Portugal, it’s called: Bacalhau a Gomes de Sa. It doesn’t have a translation, besides bacalhau, which means codfish, but Gomes de Sa, it’s a person’s name, hence it …
