I finally managed to have time to write on my blog and share with you the last items I bought. You know I am a makeup geek, always looking for the next makeup item to buy and when summer starts, all I think about is how to get that summer glow!
To achieve a fresh radiant summer look I decided last month to get the following products:
- Fenty Killawatt Foil Highlighter in Sand Castle/Mint’d Mojito
- Nars Erdem Collection Blush ‘Loves me’
- Clarins 4-Colour All-in-One Pen Eyes and Lips Limited Edition
- Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer
- Trifle Cosmetics Praline Eyeshadow Palette
- Beauty Pie Pro Glow Sculpting Face Palette
- Beauty Pie Micro Mineral Serum Foundation in shade 400 Buff
Let’s review each one of these “babies” 🙂🤗
Fenty Killawatt Foil Highlighter in Sand Castle/Mint’d Mojito
Let me just tell you that on the last two pictures the swatch you see on the bottom is both colors mixed together (sand castle+mint’d mojito).
I took a picture with and without flash to give you a better perception of this beautiful highlighter.
From this collection that Rihanna has launched “Beach, Please”, when I swatched the so called “freestyle highlighters”, I completely lost my mind when I saw “sand castle” on my fingers.
The popular highlighter “mimosa sunrise/sangria sunset” it didn’t impress me as much as I would expect, because I see it more like an eyeshadow instead of highlighter, however if I had to do an editorial makeup, this would be totally worth it.
I think “sand castle” is the perfect highlighter for my skin tone and also for my oily skin, since it blends perfectly on my skin and even if I become oily throughout the day, it seems so natural and not at all artificial. It definitely gives the perfect glow for summer.
Have a look.
The other side of the duo: “mint’d mojito” is perfect to use as an eyeshadow. This light blue super pigmented highlighter when mixed with other eyeshadows gives such a beautiful shimmer that you don’t even have to spend crazy time on your eye makeup. On the picture below, you can see this shade combined with Trifle Cosmetics Praline eyeshadow palette.
Now, in case you decide to use “sand castle” and “mint’d mojito” together, the result it will be a very striking highlighter that in real life for me it can be too much, but for pictures looks perfect, if you want your instagram photo to flash like a traffic light. Here’s a picture to show you how they look like together.
What’s your favourite highlighter from this collection?
Nars Erdem Collection Blush ‘Loves me’
The packaging from Nars Erdem collection is like a piece of art! The flowery design gives a unique fashion detail creating an amazing collection in terms of package. There was eyeshadow palettes and lipsticks, but I was missing a new blush, so I decided to get “loves me” blush. It’s so intense and pigmented, that first time I applied it, I looked like a clown 😁 Now I’ve learned I have to be gentle when putting this blush on my cheeks. This very pink sparkly blush looks better now that I have a tan, so for summer it works👍
Clarins 4-Colour All-in-One Pen Eyes and Lips Limited Edition
I can’t believe only this year I found out about this eye and lip pen from Clarins. I think it’s so practical and for £28 it’s a must have for holidays. In one product you get 3 eye pencils and 1 lip liner, how clever!🤗 I decided to get this limited edition pen, because of the turquoise color, it goes so well when your face is tanned! I’ve used this color before on my previous post when I did the eye makeup with Huda Beauty Rose Gold Remastered palette. Let me show you again the picture, so you can understand why I love the turquoise (bottom of the eye)😍
Especially on holidays when you don’t want to spend time doing your makeup, imagine this color on your waterline and then lots of mascara! Perfect, right!
The other eye shades: black and plum go with any look, making this product very multifunctional. The pink lip pencil is nice and it adapts very well for an evening look on holidays.
Even though this pen is almost perfect, it misses a softer tip. The first time I used it, it felt a bit sharp, but besides that, this is a great investment for your holidays makeup bag.
Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer
This primer is a holly grail for oily skin like mine, it controls so well the shine on t-zone.
I bought it especially for summer, for special occasions, because I don’t like to use powder on top of foundation as I normally do in winter. I learned with experience when the weather gets too hot, you should never apply a heavy finishing powder, because most of times it flashlights on the pictures and your skin after a few hours gets so patchy. It’s better invest in a good primer that will keep your skin safe from any excess of oil.
I love the fact that this primer minimizes pores, it’s paraben free, it has SPF 15 and it has less ingredients if compared with other primers that claim to do the same.
Nonetheless, there is a few things I don’t like about it, starting with the price. Why is it so expensive? £55 for 30ml and £98 for 60ml. I bought 60ml, only because I managed to get a good discount (of course, if not I wouldn’t buy it!). For this price, I think the color of mineral veil should be translucent, instead of white. For dark skin tone, the white texture it won’t work at all, which can cause an ashy finish on the foundation.
Have you try it? If so, do you like it?
Trifle Cosmetics Praline Eyeshadow Palette
I love, love, love this eyeshadow palette! This palette came in the beauty box Glossybox (I did a post about it, see the following link- https://inmakeup.blog/2018/05/09/beauty-boxes-glossybox-vs-beauty-pie/) and I never thought I would be so impressed! The pigment is amazing, the colors are so nice for summer and the size of the palette is perfect to travel. The purple eyeshadow drives me crazy and mixed with fenty highlighter mint’d mojito makes an exceptional eyeshadow color, as you can see it on the picture below and also above on the close up eye makeup picture related to mint’d mojito.
Beauty Pie Pro Glow Sculpting Face Palette
Another beauty box that I have spoken before as well, is Beauty Pie (https://michelegoesglossy.com/2018/05/09/beauty-boxes-glossybox-vs-beauty-pie/)
You pay £10 monthly to get access to high quality products with a reduced price. For example for this pro-glow palette I just paid £6.15, bargain! Is this palette good? Well, the creamy highlighter, called luminize, makes it worth it. If you check the photo above, taken with flash light, you can see how sparkly the highlighter is. For summer, I love creamy highlighters that you can put underneath foundation, giving a natural luminous effect to the skin.
I like the bronze & contour and the rosy glow blush, but the prep & set powder is not for me.
In general, this palette is good for travel, because it’s 4-in-1 and I like products that are easy to be carried in my holiday makeup bag, especially when they are multi-task.
Beauty Pie Micro Mineral Serum Foundation in shade 400 Buff
The con about Beauty Pie is that you can’t try the products before, so I took some risks when I ordered this foundation. On their website, you can easily find your shade by inserting the shades you use in other popular foundations, but unfortunately I put my winter shades and now that I’m tanned I can’t use it 😔 I can order a darker shade, although this foundation is not for me. I was looking for a light coverage foundation similar to Giorgio Armani Maestro, but I guess this foundation is one in a million… Beauty Pie serum foundation has a strange appearance, since it looks like small lumps when you put a drip on your hand. I’m definitely not convinced by this product. Plus, it melts completely at the end of the day, even with Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer.
What foundations do you like to use in summer?
My favourite items of this makeup haul
- Fenty Killawatt Foil Highligter Sand Castle/Mint’d Mojito
- Trifle Cosmetics Praline Palette
These 2 are just bombastic and I’ve been using them so many times over the last weeks.
Overall look using all the products in this makeup haul
Note: I used the Lancôme Ultra Wear Foundation in 049

Thank you for reading my post🙂
Hope your summer is being so sunny as we are having in UK and if so, have an amazing time sunbathing this weekend😎☀🏖
Oh my god! I didn’t know about the Clarins pen either! It does look gimmicky at first but the swatches and the eyelook you did are great! I know I’m going to buy it…
I’m dying to buy the Hourglass primer, but right now I still can’t get over the price.
xxx
You’re right about the hourglass primer, it’s really expensive! They really take advantage of ppl with oily skin, because they know this primer is unique 😒
The clarins pen you’ll love it, they have 4 different pens with different colors. The black, though, is universal in all of them. If you get it, hope you’ll like it as much as I do 🙂
Looking to buy it online just now
😁😁😁
That Praline Palette is so gorgeous! I’ve been wanting to try Fenty Beautys’ Killawatt Foils, the swatches are so pretty. Love the post! (:
Thank you beautiful 🙂 You should definitely try fenty foil highlight and the praline palette. Thank you for reading my post❤
Pretty looks! That praline eyeshadow palette has such cute box packaging!
Thank you. That palette is so good, you should try it 🙂
